Treatment train for Fresas Duero

Consumption of osmosis water

100
LITERS PER HOUR

Project

Installation of a well water treatment plant at the company Fresas Duero. The aim is to remove iron and manganese.

Application of treated water

  • Filling of 20 L. bottles.

  • Washing of stainless steel cases. Estimated osmosis water consumption is 100 l/h.

STAGE 1 (IRON AND MANGANESE REMOVAL)

1.

Chlorine dosage

Application of sodium hypochlorite as an oxidant for iron and manganese removal in
catalysts.

2.

Filtration of 130 micron discs.

Installation of AZUD filter with 130 micron discs to retain grit that may be present in the well water.

3.

Catalysts (Katalox Light)

Use of 3 parallel catalysts of zeolite impregnated with MnO2 to retain Fe+2, Mn+2 and H2S by oxidation reactions of iron and manganese, which forms Fe(OH)3, MnO2 and S (elemental sulfur).

4.

Dosing pump system and chemical tank for dosing Vitec 4000 antiscalant.

The use of an antiscalant for the reverse osmosis membrane was required because the well water contains a high concentration of silica (75 ppm) with the ability to affect system performance.

Vitec 4000 antiscalant prevents silica, aluminosilicates, calcium carbonates and calcium phosphates from fouling.

5.

Single membrane reverse osmosis system.

Reverse osmosis equipment applies high pressure to the water to force it through its porous membrane that rejects 99% of the salts. Osmosed water has a low concentration of total dissolved solids.

  • Filling of 20 L. bottles.
  • Washing of stainless steel hulls. Estimated osmosis water consumption is 100 l/h.

6.

Ozone for storage tank disinfection

To protect the water against bacterial contamination from external sources downstream of the RO. The O3 (ozone) is injected as a bubbler into a residence tank or by suction with the aid of a venturi, directly into the product water pipeline to the treated water storage tank.

7.

UV lamp for sterilization

Last stage prior to bottling to prevent bacterial or viral reproduction and proliferation by means of ultraviolet light irradiation with a suitable wavelength in a chamber with a UV light bulb or spotlight.

STAGE 2 (CAPACITOR POWER SUPPLY)

1.

Modular disc filter 100

Sediment filtration with 130-micron disc or ring filters

2.

Activated carbon purifier

Eliminate residual chlorine from the catalyst stage and ozone from disinfection.

3.

Twin Softener

Water softener for condenser feed water conditioning
