This membrane has been tested and certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 58 for material requirements only.

Additional important osmosis membrane information:

  1. Inspect that the packaging is in good condition before use.
  2. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Prevents freezing.
  3. It is recommended that systems using these elements rinse the elements for 24 hours prior to first use to comply with NSF / ANSI 58.
  4. The first tank full of permeate should be discarded. Do not use this initial permeate for drinking water or food preparation.
  5. For ease of installation, a lubricant safe for indirect water contact is recommended for all seals. Potential options include water-based and glycerin-based lubricants.
  6. Rotate the element approximately one-quarter turn to facilitate installation and removal of the element. Ensure a good interface between the O-rings and the brine seal with their mating surfaces.
  7. Keep the elements moist at all times after initial wetting.
  8. To prevent biological growth during prolonged system shutdowns, it is recommended that the membrane elements be immersed in a preservative solution. Rinse off the preservative before use.
  9. The membrane shows some resistance to short-term attack by chlorine (hypochlorite). Continued exposure, however, can damage the membrane and should be avoided….
  10. If the operating limits and guidelines provided in this Product Information Bulletin are not strictly followed, the Warranty is limited to the following
The 1-year period shall be null and void. The use of such chemicals or lubricants will void the Limited Warranty.

Operating and cleaning limits:

  1. The maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C).
  2. Under certain conditions, the presence of free chlorine and other oxidizing agents will cause premature membrane failure. Because the warranty does not cover damage due to rust, Canature WaterGroup Inc. recommends eliminating the residual free chlorine by pretreatment before exposure to the membrane.

Maximum operating temperature: 113°F (45°C)
Maximum operating pressure: 150 psig (10 bar)
Maximum feed flow rate: 2.0 gpm (7.6 lpm)
pH range, continuous operation: 2 – 11
Maximum Sediment Density Index: (SDI) SDI 5
Tolerance to free chlorine: < 0.1 ppm
