Description

Aquafine Cation Exchange Resin for Softener.

The most commonly used water softener resin is the strong base resin. Cation Exchange Resin.

However, there are 2 types of cationic resins on the market: strong acid resins and weak acid resins. The following are the characteristics of each one of them:

Strong Acid Cation Exchange Resin:

Deriving their functionality from sulfonic acid groups, these strong acid cation exchangers function at any pH level.

This type of resin is most commonly used for hard water softening applications, and is also used as the first deionization column in demineralizers or for mixed beds. It removes cations from water and requires a large amount of regenerant, usually hydrochloric acid (HCl).

Weak acid cation resins:

On the other hand, weak acid cationic resin uses carboxylic groups which give it high chemical efficiency in many applications, especially for the removal of bicarbonate alkalinity in water treatment and for the treatment of aqueous organic solutions. The main use of this ion exchange resin is decalcification and water softening to reduce the ionic charge on the cation bed. Weak cationic acid resins are increasingly used in special applications, including the treatment of wastewater streams in order to reduce environmental pollution, they are not functional at low pH.

Aquafine AQUAFINE AQ100-Na Resin

AQUAFINE AQ100-Na resin belongs to the strong acid resins, consists of polystyrene gel beads and is regenerated with sodium. It is suitable for residential water treatment and commercial water softeners.

Operating conditions:

Hydrotech recommends that AQUAFINE AQ100-Na resin be initially regenerated when starting any water softener. It is also recommended to disinfect the resin during the initial regeneration with a small amount of s5.25% sodium hypochlorite diluted in the saturated brine mixture. *AQUAFINE is a registered trademark of WaterGroup Inc.

The Aquafine softener resin is NSF certified.

AQUAFINE AQ100-Na is approved and certified by WQA to NSF / ANSI Standard 44 for material requirements only.

AQUAFINE AQ100-Na complies with the U.S. FDA Code of Federal Regulations, Section 21, Paragraph 173.25.
