Carbon block cartridges are manufactured with high purity coconut shell activated carbon.
Available in a wide range of lengths, diameters, and micron ratings, Carbon Block cartridges reduce chlorine, have high sediment holding capacity, and greatly reduce carbon residue.
They are ideal for point-of-use (PU) and reverse osmosis. These cartridges can be used in homes, restaurants, as well as in commerce and industry. These cartridges are a more efficient substitute for GAC (granular activated carbon) cartridges in applications where chlorine reduction is necessary.

How is a Carbon Block cartridge formed?
Block carbon cartridges consist of a mixture of powdered activated carbon, water and a binder that are mixed and extruded to form a cartridge. Sometimes specialized media are added along with the activated carbon to provide customized performances for specific contaminants.
The binder is specially designed and chosen to keep the carbon and other media in a fixed solid matrix, but without plugging the pores of the activated carbon. Although the binder occludes a portion of the adsorption sites, the finer mesh size provides block activated carbon filters with faster adsorption kinetics and generally two to four times the adsorption capacity of equivalent volumes of loose granular activated carbon.
Activated carbon block filters typically have a filtration capacity of 0.5 to 10 microns, so they are also useful for particulate filtration, removal of chlorine taste and odor, reduction of insoluble lead, and demonstration, in some cases, of Giardia and Cryptosporidium removal.
