Activated carbon ( Charcoal )

Vegetable activated carbon is applied in different industrial processes.

Environmental problems affecting air and water in the atmosphere and water are solved by the use of activated carbon. In addition to specialty air charcoals, new applications and types of activated carbon are being developed.

Specialized carbon applications include:

  • The recovery of gold, metals, silver.
  • The improvement of physical soils.
  • Charcoal to accelerate agricultural growth.

Activated carbon for gold and precious metal recovery.

Importantly, activated carbon has long been used as an adsorbent in the gold processing industry to recover gold from mining operations. Due to its high surface area and exceptional hardness, coconut shell GAC (granular activated carbon) is the primary product most commonly used for this application.

The commercial name of our carbon for this application is Carboro.

Activated carbon to improve growth in agriculture, Biochar.

Powdered activated charcoal is used to obtain the best crop yields, the right selectivity and adsorption to get the job done.

Specially designed for the agricultural industry, our activated carbon (biochar) products are used to store essential nutrients in their pores, which are then released into the crop over time, resulting in a better harvest. For example, in pineapple cultivation, our activated charcoal allows all the fruits in the plantation to ripen at the same time.

The commercial name of our carbon for this application is Bio-C.

Vegetable activated carbon for physical soil improvement.

Activated carbons to improve conductivity are intended for connecting electrical circuits and lightning rods to the ground.

It is made from coconut shells, because it grows in brackish water, it forms a carbon that in its structure contains a significant proportion of ions that increase its electrical conductivity. Carbonization is carried out at high temperature to obtain semi-amorphous carbon, which is a better conductor of electricity than amorphous carbon (such as wood).

The commercial name of our carbon for this application is Conducarb.

Vegetable activated carbon for poisoning.

Activated charcoal has long been used in emergency medicine to treat accidental overdose or poisoning. Timely and proper use of charcoal allows it to bind to certain drugs or toxins, reduces their absorption in the intestines and minimizes harm to the patient.

Activated carbon prices.

The following prices are for reference only, to show the price difference between the different types of coal based on their application:

Type of carbon Prices per Kg. 2021
MXN + IVA tax
Activated carbon for physical soil improvement $6.80
Activated carbon for water $66.24
Activated carbon for gold recovery $109.02
Activated carbon for fumes $140.30
Activated carbon for poisoning $760.00
